Lynbrook West, an apartment complex, has 100 two bedroom units. The monthly profit (in dollars) realized from renting x apartments is shown below. P(x) = -10x2 + 1800x - 43000 (a) What is the actual profit realized from renting the 51st apartment, assuming that 50 units have already been rented? (b) Compute the marginal profit when x = 50.

I'm assuming you mean \[p(x) = -10^2 +1800x-43000\] (a) P(51) = 22,790 and P(50) = 22,000. Difference is $790. (b) Using derivative: P'(50) = 800.

Ohhh, okay. Yeah, I meant to square the x. I don't know why that was so confusing to me at first. Thank you, shoeless.
