can someone solve this for me? 8-12y^3/4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is 3/4 the exponent of y or 4 a divisor of the 8-12y^3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3 is the exponet and divideby 4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is divided by 4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so 8-12y^3 power and then over 4

OpenStudy (softballgirl372015):

the answer is -(3y^3-2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OK, I'll try it this way, according to how I've understood: (8-12y^3)/4 That's like multiplying all the characters in the brackets by 1/4. By doing so, we have, (1/4*8)-(1/4*12y^3) =2-3y^3.
