Subtract the following polynomials, then place the answer in the proper location on the grid. Write the answer in descending powers of x. https://media.glynlyon.com/g_alg02_2012/4/qt4.gif

OpenStudy (ghostfire):

Subtract the same kind together. what I meant by "same kind" is \[8.3x ^{2} - 7.4 x ^{2}\] and subtract xy terms together, and subtract number together. your final answer should contain three terms.

0.9

OpenStudy (ghostfire):

almost, it's \[0.9x^{2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you get the factored answer

OpenStudy (ghostfire):

then the second portion of the answer is 0.9xy-(-1.7xy) the third portion of the answer is 3.6-6.4

OpenStudy (ghostfire):

common mistake is combined different terms together. i.e \[5x^{2}-2xy \neq 3xy\] (you can't subtract or add x^2 to xy, but you can multiply and divide)
