Make a box and whisper plot of the data 24, 18, 29, 21, 16, 23, 13, 11

OpenStudy (lstrasmann):

Do you know how to find the median?

OpenStudy (lstrasmann):

Okay. What is the median of the data?

OpenStudy (lstrasmann):

The median will be the centermost line in the plot

OpenStudy (anonymous):

19.5

OpenStudy (lstrasmann):

Okay, so that rules out the 3rd one.

OpenStudy (lstrasmann):

Now the lowest and highest numbers in the data become the whiskers.

OpenStudy (lstrasmann):

All the answers have the correct whiskers, so we move on the the quartiles.

OpenStudy (lstrasmann):

The quartiles are the medians of the two halves divided by the median.

OpenStudy (lstrasmann):

Does that make sense?

OpenStudy (lstrasmann):

I dont mean you divide them together, I mean the median of the data divides the data into two halves

OpenStudy (lstrasmann):

then you find the median of the two halves

OpenStudy (lstrasmann):

then the quartiles become the outer edges of the box part
