Which effect of the war most likely delayed recovery of the South? The shortage of workers made it hard to rebuild Southern cities and renew trade. A lack of usable land made it hard to rebuild farms and increase food production. Officials of the new government were unwilling to rebuild because of racial tension. Northerners refused to trade with Southerners so economic recovery was delayed. @Notamathgenius
