I am told to use Thevenin's Theorem so i shortcircuited the Voltage source and found R(Th) [which is R(total) to be 20ohms

what the question is asking for is " Find the Thevenin equivalent external to RL in the circuit. Use the equivalent circuit to find V(ab). Im not sure what to do for finding the equivalent external?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to find the thevenin voltage is circuit is drawn as follows|dw:1364327405343:dw| where vab=thevenin voltage
