There will be an initial environmental impact as the geothermal plant is set up. This involves road building, drilling, capping, piping and buildings. There may be an escape of various greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and methane from the drilling, but these will be temporary. Electricity pylons will be needed to connect the geothermal power station to the main grid. 

When the plant is set up and working, the energy produced should easily cover the running costs and the environmental impact will be virtually nil.
