A total of $9,600 was invested in two separate accounts earning 5.5% and 3.75% annual interest. If the total simple interest earned for the year was $491.25, then how much was invested in each account?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think its something like .055(x) + .0375(x-9600)=491.25

I would have to disagree with optiquest in one small way: 'x' is not defined!! Define: x = Amount invested at 5½% Okay, now I feel better.

thanks optiquest!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

youre welcome, i think? you might want to double check this

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

No, no, it's good. It just needed a definition.
