negative3m=21 what does m=

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

-3m = 21 you want "m" by itself.....divide both sides by -3 -3m = 21 --------- -3 -3 so what is -3/-3? 1...so you have 1m...or just m what is 21 / -3?

OpenStudy (candy13106):

i dont get it

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

alright...so we want to solve for m correct?

OpenStudy (candy13106):

yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyes

OpenStudy (candy13106):

just give me a answer cuz im trying to hurry

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

okay.... so we have -3m = 21 it didnt ask us to solve for -3m did it? no...just solve for m this means SOMEHOW we need to get m all by itself this can be done....by dividing both sides of the equation by -3 why? what is -3 / -3? any number divided by itself ...is 1.....so m now 21/-3 what is 21/3? it is 7....but its -3 dont forget....so the answer would be m = -7
