the proper equation to find the height of the triangle will have to be: x+8 = 13 you can begin with this. The illustration is there to guide you how to begin. As I have stated earlier, you can find the area of the diagram by adding the area of the triangle and the area of the rectangle. you were given a rectangle with both the length and width dimensions, but you were given a triangle with only one dimension (just the base but without the height. Area of RECTANGLE = length * width Area of TRIANGLE = 1/2 (base * height)
