Arlene made a necklace using red and silver beads in the ratio 4 to 1. The necklace used 60 beads altogether. How many silver beads did Arlene use to make the necklace?

OpenStudy (lin.ivory):

if you think about it this way, for every four RED beads, the fifth one will be SILVER. so simply divide the total number of beads into 5 portion and that will give you the number of silver beads.
