thats what i thought... this is what my lesson says : Robert Fulton built the first useful steamboat with a Watt steam engine. In 1807, he tested the Clermont. His genius, like James Watt before him and Henry Ford later, was in taking an idea and making it workable. His steamboat helped speed up industrialization. The Clermont’s success increased interest in canal and river transport.
