Simplify: cosx(secx-cosx)/sinx

OpenStudy (abb0t):

\[\sec(x) = \frac{ 1 }{ \cos(x) }\]

OpenStudy (abb0t):

also: \(1-\cos^2(x) = \sin^2(x)\)

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well write it as \[\frac{\cos(x)(\frac{1}{\cos(x)} - \frac{1}{\sin(x)})}{\sin(x)}\] and it becomes a little easier

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Why did you write: \(\frac{ 1 }{ \sin(x) }\) ? That's csc(x).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you for catching that. Is the answer sin(x)?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

sin(x) is correct.

Thank You!!!
