Determine the type of boundary line and shading for the graph of the inequality -4x - y ≤ -2 My answer is Solid line with shading on the side that includes the origin. Am I right? :)

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

solid line...yes includes origin? lets check this again...the origin is (0,0) right? so 4x - y ≤ -2 4(0) - 0 ≤ -2 0 ≤ -2 is this statement true?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's actually the other way round.. Notice the "≤" sign, what does that tell you?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Let's see if the origin is in the shaded region -4x - y ≤ -2 -4(0) - 0 ≤ -2 ... plug in (0,0) 0 ≤ -2 If the last inequality is true, then the origin is in the shaded region If the last inequalityis false, then the origin is NOT in the shaded region

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So would it be Solid line with shading on the side that does not include the origin?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

that would be correct!

Thank you sooo much! :)

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

not a problem!
