Two questions about a painting? The painting is the Self-portrait on the Borderline Between Mexico and the United States by Frida Kahlo. http://www.pbs.org/weta/fridakahlo/works… 1. Is there a foreground, middle ground, and background? What visual tricks did the artist use to create a sense of depth, or distance? 2. Did she use pattern or rhythm in the artwork? Where? What did she use to create this pattern or rhythm? I know the artist used pattern in the back right side of her painting by using skyscrapers, machines, and smokestacks. Did she use rhythm also?

Yes, like you said, she created a pattern with the environment - and the repetition in this pattern creates rhythm. The question seems to be using the terms "pattern" and "rhythm" interchangeably though, so I'm assuming either/or is correct.
