Well she started writing in the 1970s... I think it's 1977 was her first book... And she still writes now... Since she's still alive also :) She just published a book last year... hope this helps!

well take a look at her wikipedia page... the year written is when it was published, because in books, they write the publishing date, NOT the time they started the book, otherwise that'd be a little weird since some books take years and years and years to write and complete.... and she started writing way earlier.. if u read, she got a degree in English/literature in college... and for such a great author, id think its safe to assume that she wrote when she was a lot younger as well... so basically she's been writing (as a published author) since the 1970s till today.. does that make sense?
