What effect did sectionalism have on the Era of Good Feelings?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sectionalism is the idea that you give more loyalty to your state or region than you do to your country. This affected the country during the Era of Good Feelings because the country was very strong and generally healthy at this time. However, growing tension over "the slavery issue" resulted in increasing SECTIONALISM ... aka, people felt more loyal to their state than to the USA as a whole. The slavery issue intensified this because it was so tied up in states rights and North vs. South.

it caused the national unity to become more difficult

Yep! Arguing over whether or not slavery is acceptable tends to do that ;)

b. It made national unity more difficult.
