Which function has the graph attached inside? A. y=tan2x B. y= 1+sin x C. y= 2cos x D. y= -2 - cos (x-pi) ***my answer: C not too sure though... :/ is it right? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

graph!

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

It's sinusoidal, isn't it? Means it had best be a sin or a cos...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes :) so A is definitely out right?

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

A is out, yes. Now, normally, sines and cosines have their centre along the x-axis such is not the case for this one, where is the centre? That is to say, the average of the highest value that the graph attains and the lowest.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

urmmm is the center at 1?

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Yes, it is :) so it got a vertical shift of 1. That means it has to have a +1 somewhere. So you have your answer? ^.^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay.. :) so is the answer B. y= 1+sin x ??

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Yeap :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

awesome, thanks!!
