:(

OpenStudy (kropot72):

8x - 2 = 3x + 18 What happens to both sides of the equation if you add 2 to both sides?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you add 2 on both sides???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or firstly you can subtract 3x from both the sides so that 3x on RHS will get cancel..

OpenStudy (kropot72):

@brandoduh Let @waterineyes take over :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay(:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You carry on @kropot72 Sorry..

OpenStudy (kropot72):

@waterineyes Not a problem. As often happens there can be more than one way to a solution and some are more efficient than others. If we add 2 to both sides we get 8x -2 +2 = 3x + 18 + 2 Can you simplify this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes(: @kropot72

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but their are only 2 ways to find the answer??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There are more but the options are not given in your question for those.. :)

OpenStudy (kropot72):

@brandoduh The question that you posted does not appear to restrict the operations to only two. The method I am going thru with you takes 3 operations. Shall we continue with my proposal for a solution?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@kropot72 i got the solution already thanks (:

OpenStudy (kropot72):

Cool! You're welcome :)
