simplify (e^x+16e^-x)/(2) = 4....how do u go about simplifying this to natural log form?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so far i have e^x+16e^-x=8

OpenStudy (precal):

is this the original problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the top one is. i know the answer is 2log2, i'm just trying to figure out the steps in between, i have a final coming up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know log( base a) b = c and a^c=b ...i just can't figure it out.

OpenStudy (precal):

are you sure it is -x for the power and why did they not use 2ln2 which is ln4 why use a common log when it should be ln because of base e

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the problem is given in base e and im supposed to re-write it in natural logs

OpenStudy (precal):
