the total number of calories Erin would burn, c is given by the equation below. c=9x+7(60-x) if erin's goal is to burn 468 calories, what is the minimum number of minutes she needs to jog?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

I'll assume "x" is the number of minutes, and c is the number of calories so c=9x+7(60-x) ** we have the number of calories we want so 468=9x+7(60-x) now we solve for x...first distribute the 7 into the parenthesis 468=9x+420-7x combine like terms...****9x - 7x = 2x so 468 = 2x + 420 -420 -420 48 = 2x -------- 2 2 x = 24 so she would need to jog 24 minutes to burn that many calories

THANK YOU SOO MUCH! THIS MAKES MUCH MORE SENSE NOW.
