|-4x-8|=4

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

set this up as 2 equations....remember absolute value -4x - 8 = 4 and -4x - 8 = -4 **because they CAN equal both -4 and 4 since the absolute value would change the -4 back to 4 so -4x - 8 = 4 x = ? -4x - 8 = -4 x = ?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

You can make your life a little simpler! |-4x-8|=4 |-4(x+2)|=4 |-4||x+2|=4 4|x+2|=4 |x+2| = 1
