a balloon is negatively charged by rubbing and then clings to a wall. Does this mean that the wall is positively charged ? why does the balloon eventually fall?

Friend try to watch this video. you will definitely get clear explanation. http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/physics/8-02sc-physics-ii-electricity-and-magnetism-fall-2010/electric-fields/introduction-to-electric-fields/

Ok look the ballon here is negatively chargef... So this negative charge induces a positive charge on d nearer end of the wall and negstive charge on the farther end of the wall so due to attraction between unlike charges the balloon is attracted. As the ballon touches the wall the charges are shared unnless the negative charge is not equal on either side. And then like charges repel so d baloon moves away!! Got it??

Sorry they r shared unless they bcum equal..
