Suggestion : Edit History

mathslover (mathslover):

I think that there is a need for a function which provides us with the edit history of a particular question. It would surely prevent spams , misunderstanding and would provide transparency.

Parth (parthkohli):

Cool fact: moderators and admins do have an edit history.

OpenStudy (callisto):

If you have edited the question, in the question box, there will be a line "Edited (a number) (minutes/hours/days/months/...) ago". Example: this post.

Parth (parthkohli):

@Callisto He means to say that he wants to know what exactly has been edited. :-)

Parth (parthkohli):

And by the way, this is a good idea!

mathslover (mathslover):

@ParthKohli exactly. I meant to say that the edit history (what is edited) should be visible to all the users . The reason I have given above.

OpenStudy (callisto):

Oh, my bad :\ How can it prevent spams and misunderstanding?

Parth (parthkohli):

What if a person types out "CONNECTIONS ACADEMY HELP...MESSAGE ME THE ANSWER KEY", and when done, changes the question to something random like "abc"?

OpenStudy (callisto):

Then report it. The question "abc" doesn't make sense.

Parth (parthkohli):

But if it is closed? :-|

mathslover (mathslover):

What if the asker changes the question from something appropriate to inappropriate . This is just like devaluing the process of ask and answer. Yes, there is one solution of reporting it, but would you like to have 1000 reports from the same complain " Edited the question to something inappropriate" ? Well, of course not.

mathslover (mathslover):

Use of Edit History function : OS provides function for the users to edit their questions, that is good. But, proper use of editing history if required. We can have a look at the edit history and see what and why was the question edited. We can always warn the askers for inappropriate editing.
