graph \(\large y=x^{\large{1\over2}}\) and then plot the point \((9,0)\) then see what point on the graph of \(\large y=x^{\large{1\over2}}\) is closest to \((9,0)\) and label that point \(p\) As you can see in the attached picture...at (9,0) the closest point is (9,3) you could also do it mathematically and do \(y=9^{1\over2}\) which would give you \(y=3\) and so again, the point closest to \((9,0)\) would be \((9,3)\)
