@KeganMoore the first paragraph kinda gives you the "Why he was involved" reason. It was because he wanted to gain control of the Communist Party.

Eh, kind of.... I kind of found if his power decreased/increased. His power at first decreased because of shortages of good and then his power increased when he created the five-year plans.

The groups Stalin targeted were mainly people who did not agree with his views...Stalin had many mass graves in the USSR filled with people who did not support him.
