DOes anyone have any ideas about what I should write a song about? Im open to suggestions.
Umm for the past 3 months, I've been looking up weird stories about monsters, or supernatural things, and I've applied some of them to real life situations. I have 3 really good songs. You should try it. It's actually pretty fun :)
What's on your mind?
I am tempted to write about break ups and broken hearts. I have a sample of something I wrote when I was upset because I just went through a tough break up but the guy kept wanting me back even though he has hurt me many times before.
Here's the thing, EVERYBODY writes about breakups and cliche relationships. You should definitely write an actual song first and then let the lyrics come naturally.
I think it'd best if you wrote about that since it's fresh in your mind and you don't have to go back to far to remember the experience. Benefits of that could be therapeutic
And that's because everyone can relate
I have done that already before. I have written a couple of songs already. I just write down how I feel in my journal and then reread what i wrote and see what I can do with that. But I feel like I write too many depressing or sad songs bout break ups.
I can't help you with that, I'm not experienced in the positive side of writing, lol. I've tried numerous times but I can't grasp joyful meanings and happy endings in my words. But you should try googling images and write about one that catches your eye... I don't know.
Ya, thats why I write sad songs lol. I don't really tend to have really good or happy moments in my life anymore. It makes it hard to write anything positive.
Awhh mah there's gotta be something...
just listen to your heart, and write whatever goes to your mind
Events in your life.
Just so we're all clear, the lyrics are not the song. The lyrics are the easiest part and it's almost insulting to the rest of us who actually do write songs. So if you're just writing lyrics please don't call it a song, that's called a poem. If you are, in fact, writing a song, I would try experimenting with some melodies first.
There wouldn't be a song without the lyrics nor without the melody, which you did admit that the lyrics are apart of the song. How can a song be complete without the lyrics? It can't, so it would seem that if she's planning on combining a "melody" with her "poem" then she is in fact.. writing a song. [:
I agree with Angel
Tanner seems to be mildly arrogant with his opinions.
yeah, ive realized that on plenty of his post
I know right, Imma stop commenting now lol
okay lol
@AngelCriner @Slash1998 Um, I can name countless songs that don't have lyrics. Music didn't even have lyrics until later on in history. I think by arrogant you mean knowledgeable and logical. I think you mistake my arrogance for your lack of knowledge about the subject. I don't think anybody on this site really understands what it takes to write a song. You all just write a poem and pretend you're going to put a melody to it someday. It doesn't work like that. However, no matter how many times I make this point, people continue to infect this site with cliche love poems. Not to insult anybody's work but let's at least get original please. Good luck with all your musical endeavors I wish you the best. Good day.
And I'm pretty sure you can name songs that have no melody, and if you're going to throw your knowledge in people's faces, you should at least have empathy towards others.. Meaning, you should think how your words would effect whoever you're directing your reasoning to. Because honestly the way you come across, it seems your intentions are to belittle the person, and I'm not saying you are, but that's how you seem. You're responsible for how others perceive you, and I have the impression that you're arrogant, a smart ahh, and very outspoken. So instead of saying you all do this you all do that, how about making a suggestion and not sound so..... disrespectful? You can be honest with your opinions without throwing it SMACK in someone's face @tanner23456
Also, if people want to write "cliche love poems" who are you to say that it's an abomination?
