Were the first settlers(puritans) pursuing their beliefs or their faith?

In my opinion, it's both. The Puritans wanted to purify the Anglican church of England, and they settled in the bay area to practice their faith on the belief that they were correct. However, if I really had to pick between faith and belief, I would say faith because it's the most synonymous with religion.
