What is the difference between a physical change and a chemical change?
Physical changes do not change the chemical makeup of a substance. They may change in size, shape, or form, but the chemical makeup of the substance remains unchanged. Ex. Scratch, change from solid to liquid, liquid to gas, sublimation, freezing, cutting. Chemical changes change the chemical makeup of a substance. These changes take place on the molecular level that produce a new substance. Ex. Burning, rusting, neutralizing.
Well with a physical change, the change is a result of breaking, boiling, melting, freezing, bending all sorts of thigns like that. Most IMPORTANTLY though, is the chemical change, in which there are FIVE ways of knowing how it changed. 1. a new colour is formed. 2. A precipitate(solid) is formed. 3. Gas is released(bubbles). 4. The change is hard to reverse. 5. Heat or energy in some other form is released (like light).
thank you s17 you have help me so much.
Its like our thought and action. Thought is chemical change and action is physical change.
