I am trying to figure out how to calculate based on a total profit of $5500, 15% was made from one piece of land and there was a 10% loss on the other piece of land. From that I have to determine how much was paid for each piece of land? Both were purchased for a total of $120,000.
and solve for X and Y :)
Thank you!
wait i made a mistake with the first equation, but lets see if u know wat it is? :P
This is my first math class in about 15 years. How can you solve for 2 different variables in the same equation?
then ill like to make sure u completly understand wat i did, can u tell me where i got my equations from?
I actually have no idea... :(
ok lets look at the 2nd equation first. $120,000 is the amount paid for island 1 and island 2 then let the amount paid for island 1 be X and let the amount paid for island 2 be Y Thus, $120,000 is the amount paid for X and Y and therefore $120,000 = X + Y understand it a lil better?
yes, that part I understand.
ok now the 1st equation :)
thats where I am lost
well first i told u i made a mistake, which im now going to correct
ok
we know the total profit is $5500 and the 1st island made a profit of 15% while the 2nd island made a lose of 10%
yes, I understand that.
then $5500 would be the profit made from the 1st island minus the lose made from the 2nd island
do u think u can tell me wat the profit made from the first island is with respect to X?
$6325
how u got that number?
115%X = $5500
first, 115%X isnt the profit of island 1, 115% is the amount paid to get the island + the profit, u understand?
I have no idea. I am wasting your time. I should find a tutor, because I need more help than you can give. Thank you for your time.
no! i can help :(:(:(
15% of X is the profit of island 1
ill spend hrs if i have too but ur going to understand after im done with u :P
I'm sorry. I don't have hours to do this. I really appreciate you trying. Thank you.
:( lol how long u have?
You know @HawkCrimson , I believe you could of taught her with her having an understanding. Obviously, she wasn't interested, too bad.
