A magazine for people over 50 years of age asked its readers what type fo tourist attraction interested them most. 18% said Outlet Malls 25% said Historical Places and Parks. How many chose Musemes?

OpenStudy (radar):

(100-18-25)% Assuming those were the only tourist attractions listed.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4 tourist attractions Museums ? Outlet 18% Historical places 25% and Praks 25%. I added the 3 a 32 to say Museums is 32 %

OpenStudy (anonymous):

add the 3 together is 68.therefore is/off=%/100 right?

OpenStudy (radar):

Yes, about 57% were interested in museums, which sounds typical for the over 50 crowd lol.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol but the choices are 32, 45, 80 or 170 trying to lay out step by step

OpenStudy (radar):

Looking at your post, I see now there were 4 (not three) as listed in the problem. That changes the complexion of this problem!.

OpenStudy (radar):

Yes, 32 ought to do it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I condenced it. there are 4 parks however I;m only given the % of 3 and trying to find out the % of the museums. sorry for the confusion the numbers are teh mutiple choices I have to chose from

OpenStudy (radar):

I see now what you did, OK. Good luck with these problems.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I thought so but how to lay it out for explination. teachers ask to show work. the numbers are not adding up when I put the is/of=%/100

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's not 32 it's 170

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks for your help

OpenStudy (radar):

Well the total would need to add up to 100% including the museum goers. 100%=18% + 25% +25% + x% Where x% is the percentage of museum goers. x%=100%-18%-25%-25% x%= 100%-68% x%=32%

OpenStudy (radar):

That might be a way to write it up, providing you understand the sequence (which I believe you do)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes thanks you so much

OpenStudy (radar):

You are welcome.
