differentiate cos^2x + sin^2x + cotx

hartnn (hartnn):

you can use the identity and direct write cos^2x + sin^2x =0 so, basically you are just differentiating 1+ cot x

hartnn (hartnn):

*** cos^2x + sin^2x =1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ah, I see. so the final answer is simply -csc^2x?

hartnn (hartnn):

YES

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Man, see. LIke I continued differentiating everything, and it could have simply been cleaned up with an identity. THAT IS FRUSTRATING.

hartnn (hartnn):

don't , with enough practice, you'll be able to solve these mentally and correctly :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sigh, thanks. Almost done with this packet!

hartnn (hartnn):

welcome ^_^
