What did the use of atomic bombs during World War II lead to?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which of the following is not a long-term health effect of the atomic bombings on Japan? the development of cancers like leukemia increased likelihood of mental retardation in future generations increased likelihood of future generations having birth deformities inability to undergo x-rays because of false results

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The initial effects of the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were there was heavy damage only within a mile of the bomb's impact the entire city was razed to the ground and nothing left standing there was a cloud of fallout that spread far and wide beyond Japan there was destruction of the centers and only a few structures left standing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1) The defeat of Japan and the end of WW2 2) The inability to undergo x-rays because of false results was NOT a long-term health effect; everything else was. 3) The first and last answers are so close together with what initially happened, but I'd probably lean more towards the first one -- both the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs initially inflicted massive damage within a mile wide radius of their impacts. Afterward, fires sparked consumed more of each city though neither one was entirely destroyed.

THE ANSWER TO THE FIRST QUESTION ASKED IS D QUESTION - What did the use of atomic bombs during World War II lead to? ANSWER - an arms race between the United States and Soviet Union

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"The initial effects of the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were" the answer is NOT A! It is not "there was heavy damage only within a mile of the bomb's impact." I just got it wrong. Not sure of the correct answer but it is NOT A!
