Electrons essentially jump and are transferred along a gradient in that reaction - this creates a potential difference.

electron becomes excited and goes from the ground state to the excited stage in the presence of light. An electron is transfered to nearby pigment molecules which occurs at the reaction center. I think this is enough information that is needed for high school level, but if this is for biochemistry, this answer might not suffice, so let me know if you need a more detailed explanation. I might be able to provide what I remember.
