Magnetic potential energy.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This post is my final understanding of energy between magnetic interactions. Now all that things that I have written is not 100% right, thus I ask you @electrokid @Jemurray3 @experimentX @TuringTest to correct me if I'm wrong. After all, only when one fails can he then realize his mistake and learn more then move on. Lets begin.

|dw:1364951699428:dw| A magnet in a vacuum has only one property that is present, that is the magnetic field. The magnetic potential energy is zero, because there is no other magnetic field present to influence the magnet by apply a force on it. So the only Potential energy that the magnet can have is gravitational potential energy due do to gravity.
