How is the word 'logarithm' pronounced? Is it 'low-garithm' or 'log-arithm'?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the latter

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Yah it's the second one :) The abbreviation should also give you some indication. You'll find it on your calculator as the `log` button, not the `lo` button.

OpenStudy (jennychan12):

usually i just log and i say ln(x) as lawn(x)

OpenStudy (ryan123345):

Log- ah - rith - i - um.

zepdrix (zepdrix):

haha that's clever XD I usually call ln(x) "log x" because you rarely ever use any other base log through calculus :3

Thanks. It's always seemed backwards to me to say it as it looks, so thought I'd better check before I go and say something really stupid. =)
