whole number question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When I did sqrt 125 i got 11.18 which equals to 5 sqrt 5 How do I know how to turn decimals into whole number like that ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

any short cut?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@satellite73

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You don't!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You don't change it into a decimal to begin with.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First you factor the number.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Remember t hat \[ 125 = 5\times 5\times5 \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thus \[ \sqrt{125}=\sqrt{5\times5\times5}=\sqrt{5\times5}\times\sqrt{5} = 5\sqrt{5} \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i see

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you give me another similar to that and maybe i'll try it? :D
