If GB=GE and AC = 12 cm, find the length of DF. http://curriculum.kcdistancelearning.com/courses/GEOMx-HS-A09/b/assessments/C-SpecialSegmentsinCirclesQuiz/Geometry_7_1_Quiz_FINAL_14q2.gif

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Hint: Triangles GBC and GED are congruent by the HL property of congruence you can use the same property to show that triangles GBA and GEF are congruent So that will allow you to combine the two sets of triangles to say triangle CGA = triangle DGF (SSS property)

12?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

good, by CPCTC, you then show that AC = DF since AC = 12, DF must also be 12

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

the ultimate conclusion that they (probably) want you to reach is that any two chords that are the same distance away from the center are the same length

Thank you
