integrals of a certain type

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\int\limits_{?}^{?}\frac{ dx }{a+bsinx+ccosx? }\] how can i solve this type of integral?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

well, there is always the table method .... there are books written on just about any form you can imagine an integral to take

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i mean like in my examples we always start with letting t=tan x/2 and then dt= 1/2 sec^2 x/2 but how do you use the triangle method using this?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

triangle method, you mean subbing in appropriate values from a characteristic triangle that the trig defines ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, then i can use the triangle to find sin and cos

OpenStudy (amistre64):

t = tan (x/2) x/2 would represent an angle, and tangent for an angle is defined by over/next.to |dw:1365018626295:dw|
