OpenStudy (madhatter):

can someone help me understand the graphing and slope stuff plz

OpenStudy (cj7529):

yeah man whats bothering you?

OpenStudy (madhatter):

everything really i dont get it

OpenStudy (cj7529):

what are you trying to do? Plot a graph from an equation?

OpenStudy (madhatter):

ya ithink

OpenStudy (cj7529):

ok, have they given you an equation? it might be easier to explain you have that

OpenStudy (madhatter):

well it said to Graph the relation in the table. Then use the vertical-line test. Is the relation a function?

OpenStudy (madhatter):

then it has a lot of #s

OpenStudy (cj7529):

not sure on the vertical line test bit, not heard of that. So have they given you a table of y and x is it?

OpenStudy (madhatter):

ya it looked like this xy -5,0 -3,1 -1,-2 -3,5

OpenStudy (cj7529):

ok,in every row, you have an x value and the y value that goes with it. So, the function you're graphing will go through all of these points. So, if you look at the x-y plane|dw:1365019495488:dw| each row gives the x and y value of one point. if you mark all these points on the graph you can join them up to see what the function looks like

OpenStudy (madhatter):

oh wow that makes sence lol thanks

OpenStudy (cj7529):

lol no probs =)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For the vertical line test, I use a pencil. I'll show you you a link

OpenStudy (madhatter):

ok

OpenStudy (madhatter):

oh wow thats cool thanks @hedyeh99
