If you were standing at the end of a pier with a stopwatch in hand, how would you measure the average WAVE PERIOD of the waves that pass by? a. Determine a fixed point on the pier and note the time between a crest and trough that reaches that point. b. Stand at the end of the pier and record the amount of time that it takes for a wave to break from the crest to its trough. c. Stand at the end of the pier and record the distance from a wave's crest to its trough. d. Determine a fixed point on the pier and note the time between a crest and the next crest that reaches that point.

Marine and Ocean Science? D. Determine a fixed point on the pier and note the time between a crest and the next crest that reaches that point. Finding Wave Periods have NOTHING to do with the trough. I'm pretty sure you and I are in the same class given I JUST answered that question about a day ago

Yea, probably. That's what I thought! :) Thanks!

OpenStudy (mexhitokiri):

D. Determine a fixed point on the pier and note the time between a crest and the next crest that reaches that point is correct.
