I need some help graphing the parabola !!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you have a graphing calculator?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope but heres the parabola

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=(x+3)^2-4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the vertext is (-3,-4) right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i just need to graph it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats hard :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have homework for graphing a parabola. My teachers gives us simple ones.

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

do you have the standard form formula for the parabola handy?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

the "vertex" form is pretty much what you have

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait whats my vertex points? is it (-3,-4) or (3,-4)?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

the coefficient for the squred binomial is "1", thus a positive number, thus it opens "upward" the vertex is the "h,k" from the vertex formula

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know but what is my vertex points?!?!?!

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

the vertex is the vertex :), the spot from where the parabola stems up/down

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So its (-3,-4) or (3,-4)?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

(x-(-3)^2, so -3,-4
