jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

does it say anywhere that AB = AC? or BD = CD ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No it doesnt

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

or does it say that AD is a bisector of angle BAC?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

if that's the case, then CD = BD x+6 = 3x - 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry my internet got fluttered up CD if the perependicular bisector of AB

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

its fine, the site crashed on me too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok I dint kno if it was just mine or not lol

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

did you mean AD is an angle bisector?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in the book it said perpendicular bisector

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

well i don't see how CD could be the perpendicular bisector of AB

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

if possible, post a screenshot of the entire problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am sorry I was looking at the wrong problem :(

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

that's ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok sorry in the book it dosent really say anything it just gave me that pic. I have above and it just said find CD

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

ok I'm assuming that DAC = DAB if so then you can say CD = BD x+6 = 3x - 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thats wat I though you had to do but I didn't no Thank you very much

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yw

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so then would I subtract 6 to -2 then subtract 3x to x

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

correct, and that gives you what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry its gonna take me a while to get that I have a caculater but it on my ipad so I need to start that up but then what do you the x

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you need to completely isolate x

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so you need to get x on one side and get everything else to the other side

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so I got -2x=-8

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

now divide both sides by -2 to completely isolate x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and that will be my answer??

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

that will give you the value of x

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

but you want CD

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

the good news is that we know that CD = x+6 so once you find x, you need a few more steps at most to find CD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ooh ok I think I can get it from her lol Thank you very much

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you're welcome
