If it's Windows 7/Vista then do this: Right click on Desktop. Click Screen Resolution. Using "Orientation" selection box switch from Landscape to Portrait. Just pick which one that goes with what you want.

the screen is hp and the tower is dell

make sure you click on the screen before you do it. even though the screen is open, the computer doesnt recognize it is active until you click on the screen. do that and try it. the computer and screen brands shouldnt matter

Hold down ctrl and alt and while you are holding these two buttons down then press up, down, left or right. note if your screen is already in its normal viewing mode then pressing up won't do anything!
