I'm here =P
okay :) awesome!! ONe sec while i type up the sentences!! :D
1) Mate is made with dried leaves and hot water. 2) It is like tea! 3) Argentina, Paraguay, and Urugauay drink mate. 4) People drink mate when with family or friends at a social event. 5) Some people make it sweeter, though people usually drink mate as it is made. 6) Mate is important because it is tradition and because it is good for you. 7) Mate is also the national drink of Uruguay, Paraguay, and Argentina. 8) I think that I would like the taste of mate because I really like tea, and they are similar. P.S. Have u tried mate before?? is it good? :)
Try to translate it and I will correct you =P
okay!! one sec!
do u want to do it one by one then? :)
1) Mate is made with dried leaves and hot water. Mate es hecha con hojas secas y agua caliente. does that look right?
Mate está hecha con hojas secas y agua caliente
El mate está hecho con hojas secas y agua caliente. Better this sentence
okay :) 2) It is like tea! Es como te! not too sure... :/
oh wait no!! Como means i eat... so what it is like?
I'd say: Es como el té
ohhhh i see.... nvm hahhaa so u can use como as two terms right?
yes
okay!! and 3) Argentina, Paraguay, and Urugauay drink mate. La Argentina, Paraguay y Urugauay tomar mate. ??
and 4) People drink mate when with family or friends at a social event. Personas tomar mate cuando con su familia o con amigos en un evento social. or should it be Gente tomar mate cuando con su familia o con amigos en un evento social. ?? :/
I'd say: En Argentina, Paraguay y Uruguay beben mate. But I don't know if you have to use: En, because in the sentence in english I will write: In Argentina, Paraguar... And there isn't "in" in your sentence... So: En Argentina, Paraguay y Uruguay beben marte or without the en
okay, but either will work? :) with or without the "en" ?
I'd say with en
okay :)
4. Las personas (or La gente) toman/beben mate cuando están con su familia o amigos en un evento social Or without the verb to be I'd say: Las personas (or La gente) toman/beben mate con su familia o amigos en un evento social (but without "when")
ok, so do i use personas? or gente?? and do i use toman?? or beben? ;/ wait so which is a better translation tho?? with or without the "estan" ?
Well, Personas o gente is the same but gente is more informal. And you can use toman o beben, for me is the same. And the better translation.... It is the same, you have the same meaning but in your sentence is the word "when" so I don't know if you must use that word in spanish too
okay, awesome!! :) 5) Some people make it sweeter, though people usually drink mate as it is made. Algunas personas hacen mas dulce, aunque la gente suele tomar a mate como se hace. what about this one?
Algunas personas "lo" hacen más dulce, aunque la gente suele tomar mate como se hace
okay :) and 6) Mate is important because it is tradition and because it is good for you. Mate es importante porque es tradicion y porque es bueno para usted. what do u think? :D
"El" mate es importante porque es tradición y porque es bueno para usted (or para ti)
so i can end with para usted? and that is correct?
7) Mate is also the national drink of Uruguay, Paraguay, and Argentina. Mate tambien es la bebida nacional de Uruguay, Paraguay y Argentina. and what about this one too?
Yes, why not? :P And the 7 perfect: only "El" mate
oh right haha okay!! and last one!! 8) I think that I would like the taste of mate because I really like tea, and they are similar. Yo creo que me gustaría que el sabor del mate porque me gusta mucho te, y que son similares. what do u think?
Creo que me gustaría el sabor del mate porque me gusta mucho "el" té, y son similares
okay, so just add the "el"?and no need for "YO"Before creo?
In spanish you don't need the personal pronoun before the verb because using Creo you know that is Yo. It isn't like English that you must use the personal pronoun because without it you don't know the personal: Like I read, you read --> In spanish, yo leo, tu lees, (Leo is always for the first person so you don't need it) Do you understand? But if you write Yo creo ___ is perfect too.
So this is all of them?? And all the spellings and translations are right? Do they all look good to you? :)
Yes perfect. Don't you use accent marks?
Yes, but idk how to make the accent mark through typing hahaha but i know where they should be so i can just add it in when i write it :) hehe thanks for ur help!!!! :)
aaa ok =) You're welcome!
