What information does a formula give about a molecule?

OpenStudy (frostbite):

It depends on the formula to some degree. The molecular formula (the sum-formular) describe what elements the molecule contain and how many. A example of this could be benzen with the formula C6H6. The "empirical formula" for a molecule tells us the most simply ratio of atom in a molecule. To take the example above benzen with the formula C6H6 would be CH.
