nice wikepedia there, yea thats basically it korea wants south korea to make it go under a communist country. North Korea's mad about recent UN sanctions imposed as punishment for North Korea's recent round of nuclear tests.
By having a temper tantrum, they're trying to establish a position of strength from which to bargain.
They're trying to scare the world into giving them what they want in exchange for them settling down and behaving themselves again.

Only they won't attack anyone, regardless of their threats.
They won't because that would violate the UN Ceasefire that halted the Korean War of 1950-53.
That war saw the UN intervene and defeat North Korea's attempted conquest of South Korea.

If North Korea breaks the ceasefire, the war automatically resumes.
North Korea has no actual desire to finish losing a war they already lost.
It knows full well it cannot defeat the United Nations and long list of UN countries (including the USA) that liberated South Korea during the Korean War.
