Why were radio comedies so popular during the 1930s?

I think its D but im not really sure because I know that the great depression was a really ruff time for everyone so I would think it would be that one .Can someone please help me or tell me if im right ?

The 1930s were traumatic because of the Great Depression, but this sense of overwhelming sadness that characterized the era wouldn't pertain really to comedic movies. Many could not afford to go to the theatre.
