according to static electricity two like charges repel each other. But in the case of atomics, as for example if I consider oxygen it had 8 protons which are placed together on to a single place called Nucleus. Then why these protons are not repelling with each other with in nucleus. what force is holding them together.

good question since the neutrons are neutral there is no repulsion force bwtwen proton and neutron but there is always some proton repulsion but due to presence of neutrons its is not soo high :)and this will be greater when no of protons goes above 100 thats why elements with higher atomic mass no are not stable due to nuclear reactions (radioactivity)
