describe the character traits most valued in ancient greece
"Hospitality. In the Iliad, Helen who has run off with Paris, a minor Trojan prince (he was the youngest of 50 sons), she did so with a guest in her husband's house and took her dowry with her; stealing from your host was frowned upon in the ancient world. Also in the Iliad, two warriors from each side meet in battle, introduce themselves and realized they can't fight since their grandfathers(?) incurred a guest/host relationship which was inheritable. In the Odyssey, Odysseus and his men either violate the hospitality rule or have it violated against them culminating in Odysseus throwing out the bad guests in his home." - http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20110716181607AA8K2r3
